You want your business to succeed but are YOU match-fit?

Back to back meetings, a to-do list longer than your arm, and a phone and in-box that constantly demand your attention – these are all signs that your business is bursting at the seams. You are motivated, buoyed by new ideas, new possibilities and the buzz of being busy.

But as you strategise and plan, are you pausing to look at you? Do you have the physical and mental stamina to run your business all the way to the top? Or are you going to falter, jeopardising your hard work, your preparation and the success of your business?

Great ideas, business smarts, inspiration, and organisation are all important ingredients when it comes to creating success but what about the less obvious aspects – the energy that drives all the things you do?

Physical health is the obvious place to start. Poor physical health will impact the running of your business in an immediate and negative way. Nutrition, fitness and sleep are essential to good physical health – they are as important as a healthy profit and loss sheet.

When you are swamped with tasks, evenings seem the obvious time to get more work done. It is easy to ‘get on a roll’ and before you know it, you are into the early hours of the morning.

But as Arianna Huffington – founder of Huffington Post says

I studied, I met with medical doctors, scientists, and I’m here to tell you that the way to a more productive, more inspired, more joyful life is: getting enough sleep.

Top physical condition is not all it takes. Your mindset is another aspect that, in the flurry of goals that need to be achieved, can be overlooked as a success factor.

Mindset is more than a positive attitude.  A mind that stays focused on the success of your business goals is an invaluable asset. Most businesses experience times that are tougher than others. Clients leave, contracts are reduced or not renewed and your profit margin shrinks. But rather than allowing the weight of these changes to alter your mindset, you need the attitude and mental stamina to push through and keep surging forward.

Business success is not a sprint, it’s a cross-country trek and the conditions won’t always be ideal. If you are paying attention to the source of your energy and attitude, at each new challenge, your strength will grow and the success of your business will be assured.
